TuxfordBoy Soldiers Move In
The first place to encourage youths to make the Army a career, aimed at producing soldiers of high calibre. Boys ranged between 15 and 171/2 years of age, the first intake was of around 40 to 50 boys. The Married quarters were still there in the 1980's but the camp is now an industrial site.
As numbers grew the camp could not hold it and one Company 'A' became permanently detached and was located in Harrogate.

Summer Camp 1953 was at North Coates.
Church Parade in the early days was held in Tuxford.
The Battalion moved to Plymouth early in August 1954.
